The Worlds
Premier Insulation

Thermal
Recommendations

The
diagram above shows the most important areas of the home to insulate
for energy efficiency.
There
are 5 sets of energy standards commonly in use:
1.
Model Energy Code (MEC) - The
standard energy code for the three model code groups (BOCA, ICBO,
SBCCI) for new construction.
2. Hud MPS (Minimum
property standards) for HUD funded new construction. It is considered
a minimum standard for energy and cost efficiency.
3. Farmers Home Administration (FmHA) - For
FmHA funded new construction. Standards are higher than MPS.
4. State Energy Codes - Many
states have adopted the Model Energy Code. Some states have their
own energy codes. These codes are usually similar to HUD MPS or FmHA
standards.
5. CertainTeed Recommended Standards - Comply
with the latest CABO Model Energy code and Department of Energy recommendations.
CertainTeed
Code Compliance
CertainTeed has a variety of insulation products which permit compliance
with insulation flame spread requirements in 3 model building codes
(BOCA, ICBO, SBCCI). The codes require that flame spread ratings be
determined in accordance with ASTM Test method E 84. This method measures
and describes surface flame spread and smoke density measurements
under laboratory conditions.

Easy
Handler
Encapsulated
Fiber Glass Insulation
Easy
Handler Encapsulated Insulation is encased in a soft, breathable wrap
of non-woven fabric to minimize the mess, dust and skin irritation of
handling and installing fiber glass insulation.
Product
Benefits
Encapsulation maximizes handling ease by minimizing possible
skin irritation.
Breathable non-woven fabric wrap eliminates the possibility of
condensation buildup on the insulation or wrap.
Smooth
fabric wrap allows easy installation, without sticking or tearing.
Remains in position in sidewall installation.
Forgiving of odd spaces, filling cavities quickly and neatly.
Once cut, product integrity is maintained: no shifting or slippage
out of the fabric wrap.
Quickly recovers it original shape after staking or squeezing,
allowing for full thermal performance after transport or storage.
Installation
Both Kraft-faced and unfaced insulation products are manufactured in
width required for standard wood stud construction.
Retrofit
Installation
In retrofit installations, where there is existing insulation, unfaced
insulation should be added to bring insulation levels up to today's
energy standards.

Blow-In
Blanket System
with InsulSafe III®
BIBS®
gives
home a custom-designed, seamless, thermally-efficient sound-reducing
blanket that completely fills any void. This patented process combines
InsulSafe III with a fine adhesive mist, then blows it into cavities
behind netting. The process involves spray nozzles, adhesive, netting,
InsulSafe III and installation techniques specifically for BIBS.
Product
Benefits
Thermally efficient
Higher R-Values
Fills voids
Excellent sound control
Won't settle
